SO many requests for an updated morning skin care routine on my Instagram stories from last night!!! Let’s do this! Y’all know I’m always trying new products and dropping ones that aren’t worth the money. I’ve written the step-by-step routine I use every morning!
I used to cook and bake allllll the time. When Aaron and I were newly married and in the same classes at BYU, you could find us in our tiny studio apartment. During finals week, he’d be studying on couch while I was trying my darndest to forget about pending exams by getting lost in the kitchen. I was a recipe junkie. I created a blog sharing our travels, my DIY crafts, and favorite recipes. Ten years ago, I shared our go-to Bread Twist recipe to that blog. Unfortunately those Hot and Heavy bread twists have not made their appearance in the kitchen since our kids have been alive. It’s time for a rebirth! I’ve copied my old blog post and will share it verbatim with y’all here! ( I added a few tablespoons of olive oil into the recipe and it turned out great!)
Tried and True, from our kitchen to yours…meet our favorite dinner pal! Hot and Heavy. I can’t remember the first time I made these bad boys but guys, Aaron and I felt it. The carbohydrate love connection. These are even more fabulous than Olive Gardens and if you live here in Utah it’s quite comparable (in appearance!) to the ones at Pizza Factory. These Hot and Heavies sit fat and happily alongside Spaghetti, Pizza, you name it! We made them for dinner last night. Yep, that’s right, just the breadsticks. And I really do mean ‘we’ because Aaron will not leave the kitchen or house until these are plump, hot, and risen. These really are the best breadsticks around! And if this testimonial alone doesn’t convince you, let me share with you their winning merit–they are really hard to mess up! If you’re a yeast virgin, the dough is very, very forgiving. Trust me. You can even chase down this garlic experience with a cinnamon/sugar fatty goodness. Three course meal in one. Oh, divine.
Crossley Orthodontics has been rockin’ & rollin’ for 4 months in Frisco, TX! Everything is going better than we had hoped thanks to the GREAT community we’re sounded by! Truly, we feel so grateful to have this long-time dream become a reality. We had a fun GRAND OPENING PARTY and I shared tons of pictures HERE. Loads of our closest family and friends came out for the fun. We need to make it an annual event!
Someone who really loves you sees what a mess you can be, how moody you can get, how hard you are to handle, but still wants you. He’ll always have my heart and will always sweep me off my feet. 🎁 I sure do love this guy! He’s literally the most easy-going when it comes to holidays and gifts. He’d be happy to never receive or even give gifts if it were up to him (I still love you babe! haha). And since we’ve had 11 Christmas’s together, I’ve learned the easiest way to keep the gifts flowing is to offer a wish list and fill his in with Nike outfits to match his casual style. I also helped a brother out by adding some darling sportswear pieces for myself so that gift giving for the holidays would be easy and fun 😉 I put together a short list of sportswear His & Her gifts!
Quite a bit of you watch my Instagram stories and I alwaysget a bunch of questions in response to my skin care favorites. If you know me well, you know I am a big believer in investing time each day into taking care of my skin. As any good daily habit, when you can literally see your skin changing then you’ll create the time to invest in your skin.
WE ARE OPEN!!! Our family orthodontic office is open! I’m teary-eyed right now because I still simply can’t believe we’re here. Eleven+ years ago my sister set me up on a blind date with this guy who wanted to go to dental school, while I was applying to dental hygiene school. Our journey to get here is not how we would’ve mapped it out. I would’ve gone down a straight path without bruises and cliffs. I would have skipped the roundabout roads that led us down the “wrong” direction. I would have never planned heartache and hard times for my future. But I don’t have to look very far to see that every failure or change in our “perfect plan” allowed us the blessing to have clearer eyes to see a better path when we felt brave enough to leap. And we took a lot of crazy leaps! Here we were that night, celebrating this dream we hoped for, pictured, and imagined for more years than we realized. Cheers to you, Aaron! Congratulations for fighting for and building this sanctuary for you to do what you do best, and serve others with everything you’ve prepared for.
It’s that time of year to pull out all the spooky critters and tricks! We haven’t decided on halloween outfits yet but the house is decorated and the kids absolutely love it! The kids all love the idea of decking the house out in creepy crawlers. And if y’all saw on my instagram stories, the neighborhood kids all got a good scare when my hubby Aaron was hanging up the spiders when suddenly he was attacked by the BIG HAIRY SPIDERS. Half of the on-looking neighborhood kids were terrified while the other half were trying to convince themselves that it was all fake. haha.
I’m super excited to share this highly requested tutorial explaining how to hang these spiders on the exterior of a home! Y’all ready for it? It’s super complicated <wink wink>.
Even after decades of the Don’t Mess With Texas campaign, we’ve still got litterbugs. These litterbugs roam the sidewalks while tossing their sucker sticks and juice boxes, and the like. They’re small, but it’s still trash.
It’s a good thing we have our very own twin SWAT team in-house, Officers Crossley & Crossley. When they saw litter flying out of young, 2 year old Avery Crossley’s scooter early last week they pulled her over. Whether the litter violation was intentional or accidental was irrelevant. While Officers Crossley & Crossley were recording the make & model of Avery’s vehicle, she erratically took off and evaded the officers. Keep scrolling to see how the situation played out. None of us knew how exactly it would go down but we sure had a lot of belly laughs watching it unfold.
Woo hoo! It’s that tailgating time of year and these kiddos show up for the games! We love the excitement of it all. Aaron and I are college sweethearts. We were set up on a blind date by my older sister in May and were married 3.5 months later! We lived in a 500 sq ft studio apartment a few blocks away from BYU, Provo campus. Every morning we’d wake up and strap on our backpacks and hold hands while walking to school. We’d meet up in between classes or sit next to each other in classes that we were taking together. Such. Fun. Memories. You won’t find us watching a football game unless it’s a BYU game, Dallas Cowboys, A&M vs Texas, or a local high school football game. We show up for the food, spirit wear, and activities!
I hear it’s officially fall, but here in the south that doesn’t hold much weight… We’re still in full swing of summer weather and I’m often asked what self-tanner I use since I always wear sunscreen and am as fair as they come. I promised y’all a short blog post sharing what I use, and what’s even better, how you can have it all delivered to your house tomorrow! I found all my favorite tanning items from Walmart’s Next Day Delivery. It’s free and no membership needed. Just enter NextDay Mode on your phone, and everything you see will be available for NextDay Delivery. I linked my FAVORITE Self-Tanning items below!
This was our first time to visit the Dominican Republic! When Nickelodeon reached out to us I was flooded with memories of all the 90’s nostalgia shows liked “All That” and “Hey Arnold” and “Rugrats” etc… And as a 90’s kid, it was a dream to get slimed! My siblings and I grew up watching our teen idols and other celebrities have that iconic lime green goop dumped on top of them! What did it feel like?!Was it gross? Was it fun?
Celebrated 11 years of marriage a few weekends ago!
It was on a Wednesday, and we were knee-deep in boxes, moving Aaron in to his new office. WE’VE BEEN DREAMING OF THIS FOR 11 YEARS 😍😭. He’s supported me, especially when it was the least fun (both in motherhood and this Instagram/blog thing). I LOVE to be here for him now. In one of the most stressful and exciting times of our marriage it’s been so rewarding to get closer together because of the struggles.
Our 11 years hasn’t been a fairy tale.
We struggled in our relationship. We struggled through our broke college years. We struggled to get pregnant. We struggled to enjoy parenthood. And sometimes, we struggled to Just. Like. Each Other. But each day he kept choosing me and I kept choosing him. He was my best decision. He is the sweetest feeling I know. ❤️ Happy anniversary, babe
ANNIVERSARY DAY
Our at-home dinner selfie (above) was shot from the 15 minutes we saw each other on our actual anniversary day. haha. We were working ALL day to get his office cleaned and furniture finally moved in. We finally came home. Realized we hadn’t had dinner. He zipped over to Whataburger (the only thing open that late!) while I slipped into my sexy, oversized striped nursing dress. We stuffed our faces, eyes glazed over from being on auto-pilot all week, and then we passed out. It was perfect. It was us.
And because SO many of y’all wanted to see baby Janene & Aaron (2008)…
We just got back from our family beach vacation and this Texas heat is still in full swing! And I don’t care how much Halloween Walmart and Hobby Lobby are selling, I ain’t buying in to it right now, haha. But overall it’s been an incredibly mild summer here in the south so I’m not complaining. And when the kids will swim and splash for hours on end, It’ll be a sad day when the pool temperature feels too chilly to play.
For the last few months, I’ve received TONS of direct messages from my Instagram stories when we’ve hung out in the pool and y’all could see our white in-pool Ledge Lounger Chairs.
With 4 kids in tow, we’ve been through a lot of shoes. I used to teach group fitness classes and had to sift through pairs upon pairs of sneakers to find the best shoes to help me lift and jump the best without causing injuries. We’ve tried all the brands and I’ve heard the excitement (along with the complaints) from these kiddos about the shoes they wear too. I swear, kids are the best source for the most brutal and honest reviews!
Happy Sunday, lovelies! I’m sharing an often-requested post talking details for how the heck I get out the door each Sunday morning and why my kids love taking our Sunday photo. It’s so much more simple than you’d think.
