11th Wedding Anniversary — Staycation at The Fairmont Dallas

Celebrated 11 years of marriage a few weekends ago!

It was on a Wednesday, and we were knee-deep in boxes, moving Aaron in to his new office. WE’VE BEEN DREAMING OF THIS FOR 11 YEARS 😍😭. He’s supported me, especially when it was the least fun (both in motherhood and this Instagram/blog thing). I LOVE to be here for him now. In one of the most stressful and exciting times of our marriage it’s been so rewarding to get closer together because of the struggles.

Our 11 years hasn’t been a fairy tale.

We struggled in our relationship. We struggled through our broke college years. We struggled to get pregnant. We struggled to enjoy parenthood. And sometimes, we struggled to Just. Like. Each Other. But each day he kept choosing me and I kept choosing him. He was my best decision. He is the sweetest feeling I know. ❤️ Happy anniversary, babe

ANNIVERSARY DAY

Our at-home dinner selfie (above) was shot from the 15 minutes we saw each other on our actual anniversary day. haha. We were working ALL day to get his office cleaned and furniture finally moved in. We finally came home. Realized we hadn’t had dinner. He zipped over to Whataburger (the only thing open that late!) while I slipped into my sexy, oversized striped nursing dress. We stuffed our faces, eyes glazed over from being on auto-pilot all week, and then we passed out. It was perfect. It was us.

And because SO many of y’all wanted to see baby Janene & Aaron (2008)…

When the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas reached out to me to see if we’d like to visit, we were all over it! Between both of our businesses and kids, we always have a lot going on. To us, a relaxing staycation is dreamy. Sleeping in, eating new and yummy foods, and relaxing in a pool together was the perfect vacation. To make it even better, it’s located in the heart of downtown Dallas! We stayed in the Fairmont Gold room. The “Fairmont Gold” experience was pretty fantastic with it’s private access lounge that had a healthy breakfast, snacks & drinks all day, and yummy appetizers $ desserts in the evening. Aaron always dropped in before bedtime to grab some cookies. It was pretty cool having the lounge right next to our room to snag drinks or goodies anytime we wanted. I also recommend visiting the Pyramid Restaurant for breakfast! I’m still craving the Avocado Toast (avocado relish, fennel, celery all on toasted hippie wheat), Eggs Benedict, and the Crispy Strawberry Waffles. Honestly, the restaurant is worth a visit even if you’re not staying the night in the hotel. It was delish! We spent most of the next 2 days snuggled on the bed ordering furniture for Aaron’s office that was opening up the next week. Hellllllllo 2 day shipping, haha. We snuck away from work for a sunset dinner at the pool. The pool bar closes around 5pm, so we ordered room service to be delivered to us. It was the perfect night! Lot’s of good conversations and food. The wings, steak, and burger were fantastic! Enjoying it all with my favorite person made the work/play staycation the most fun way to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary.

Hi there! I’m glad I found your blog. I own the same skirt! Anywho, I found this post because of the giveaway you have with Nickelodeon punta cana. I would love, love, love to win this for our family. We love to travel and have never been there. I would take my 2 year old, 12 year old, my 14 year old boys and my husband of 15 years (sept 18 2004). Happy anniversary to you guys too!
