This has probably been the most exciting, stressful, fun, crazy few weeks we’ve had in a very long time. A few months before opening Aaron’s orthodontic office in Frisco, we had completely unexpected news come our way.
We’ve had such a fun day with family in town! Aaron’s older brother and his cute family of 6 get to stay with us for 2 weeks! We are so excited for a fun family reunion! We don’t have any guest bedrooms in our home, which means we get to play magical chairs with all the little people in the various rooms. The 2 adults will stay in the girl’s bedroom. Since their room has become a “guest room” of sorts, we decided to order 2 mattresses that both our kids and adults would enjoy. My kids have never been picky with mattresses. For heavens sake, I’ll occasionally find them sleeping upside down or on the floor, haha. But most of us slightly-pickier-adults have had the experience of staying somewhere with a mattress that’s no good….can make for a rough stay!
I’m sitting here on a flight leaving Miami heading back to our home in Dallas. There is a darling little blonde boy snoozing away on my lap while my other little girl is beep-bopping away to The Greatest Showman on the other side of me. This past week Aaron and I hit the breaks on our schedule and zipped away for a vacation to go island hopping with the twins. We made it a complete surprise for them. As in, the 4 of us pulled up to the airport and the twins still had no idea we were surprising them with their very own solo trip with mama & daddy. And if you follow along in my Instagram stories, you saw their freak-out moment when we told them we were boarding a plane together to jet off to Florida! Tiny bodies jumping up and down while squealing with excitement. That moment was parenting payday, for sure.
We had an absolute BLAST celebrating our birthdays this weekend! I turned 31 last Wednesday and Aaron turns 33 a week later! We’ve never been into getting each other grand, expensive gifts. Instead, what we really look forward to is experiencing a yummy dinner together or a weekend staycation. We booked a 2 night stay at the Hotel Crescent Court in Dallas on the weekend in between our birthdays. My sister and I recently started the best monthly trade-off with our kiddos. She’ll take our kids for a few days and then we’ll trade off the next month and I’ll take her kids for a few days to give them some time alone. It’s definitely a crazy, cousin-filled weekend when all 7 of the cousins are together… but it is giving them the BEST memories, while also give the parents a weekend to relax and focus on one another. I wish we would have started this sooner, haha!
The temps have hit the 80’s and summertime is right around the corner! For our family, summer is all about being carefree and having as much pool & play time as we can handle. We literally live in the pool before school picks back up in the fall. If you saw my Instagram stories from yesterday, you might’ve caught the tail-end of my 7 year old swimming in our pool while my 2 year old was splashing in the shallow end. They’re all fishies and have seemed to jump in the moment the ice melted! The good news is their lips weren’t blue.
Along with this warm weather comes a whole host of problems that can wreck havoc on my locks. There’s a dramatic difference in my winter hair care routine from my summer hair routine. In between battling swimming pool chemicals and intense humidity, it’s so important to keep my hair healthy by changing a few simple habits. Next time you’re running errands, pick up these great summer hair hacks. Keep reading to find out a few tricks to beat the heat this summer!
It’s the time of year when we spring clean! We sift through each closet and hiding spot. Decluttering and de-junking and deep-cleaning. I used to have a higher tolerance for disorder: piled up dirty laundry, dishes filling the sink, stuff literally everywhere.
T W O. Avery Rose turned 2 and I shared some of my favorite 10 pictures + videos of her life HERE on this Instagram post. Spoiler alert, there are lots of double chins featured there, haha. She spent her birthday visiting her daddy’s office, eating donuts, and watching her big siblings play soccer. She even scared the living daylights outta me with
The number one thing I’ve struggled with as a mom to little ones, a wife, and an entrepreneur is prioritizing time. We often have a million things on our to-do list around the house, a kajillion activities we’d like to do with the kids, designing & building plans surrounding my husband’s office, and I’ve got a fun social media gig that lights my fire. All of these opportunities pull on my heartstrings nearly each hour of the day. Have you ever felt like that? As if you’re juggling things and trying to figure out how to stay focused on each project when there are text messages and to-do’s screaming at you from every direction? It’s exhausting, and I hear you. So, this year we sat down and tackled each of our stumbling blocks head on and I’d love to share the goals we’re working through.
Dealing with postpartum hair loss is inevitable for most of us. During pregnancy, we’re excited to have the most beautiful & thick hair. Then, the baby comes and POOF– the hair drops out by the clumps. What’s even more shocking, the hair doesn’t seem to stop coming out. I’d love to share my hair care routine + 5 best tips to minimize the trauma that can accompany hair loss.
Hey there! I posted THIS SELFIE to my Instagram page last week and many of y’all asked if I could share a full nursery tour of her room! I kept it pretty simple and so I shot a few pictures to share here. If you scroll to the end, I’ll link all the items at the bottom of this post!
Last week, I shared 2 of these photos to Instagram with the caption, “Once in a while, right in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives us a fairy tale. And after a decade of marriage, 4 sweet babies, 10 years of poor college schooling, I still want my days filled with you. I want to plan big and fight for our wildest dreams together. I want to continue seeing you, in your weakest or in your strongest, I want to be there with you.”
Let’s talk hair. I’ve been having my hair highlighted for the last 10 years. I’ve always had blonde hair, but when I reached my twenties my hair began to lose its brightness. For 2 years, I hired someone else to highlight my hair and often felt disappointed with the color. Mix in our poor college life, and then 7 years of dental school + residency, so my hubby and I decided to hit up our trusty YouTube and Google and together we learned how to highlight my hair! It has been a rollercoaster to figure out the right color, processing times, strengths, etc. AND my hair has been nearly every color of the rainbow (not on purpose :-)). We’ve figured it out and I’ve loved my hair for the last few years. Per your request, next month I’m finally sharing all the things for how we highlight my hair.
Last year, I wrote a post called The Twin’s 1st Year in School with Pediatrics Plus. I am SO grateful for all of the awesome questions from that, so I wanted to share an update on their first 6 months of preschool now that we officially have our boots strapped on with the routine.
