Family Date Night Out! (GIVEAWAY)

Good morning, friends! It’s another drizzly day here in Dallas. Last year, Aaron got mountain bikes for us to go biking at a trail a few minutes from our old house (one of the best trails in Dallas!) but we couldn’t seem to make it out during the spring season because it rained SO much! The dirt trail needs 1-2 days to dry out after a rainstorm and that never seemed to happen. Grateful for the lessening chance of drought, but hot dang, this mama misses being outside!

Well, I’ve got a fun mid-week post to share with y’all! It’s a couple of our FAVORITE restaurants to take our family to just north of Dallas. And if you pop on over to my Instagram post you can enter to win the giveaway for a family date night out for you and another local mom who deserves a little treat to both Hat Creek Co. ($75 gift card each) + Hi Sweetie Thai Rolled Ice Cream ($25 gift card each).

HAT CREEK CO.

This tops as our favorite place for the kids to play! It’s casual and fun with picnic tables and the coolest playground offered at a restaurant. Legit tall slides, walls to scale, monkey bars for the brave little crazies. It’s 100% kid-friendly!

They cater towards nearly every dietary need! Dairy free? Vegan? Gluten free? Tons of options. Carb counting? Try the “skinny burger” by swapping lettuce for the bun. Want breakfast? They use all locally farmed eggs. You can also find them serving pancakes, nuggets, tasty shakes and ice cream. You can customize any order and get exactly what you want. And EVERYTHING is so good!! I love the Berry Salad + Fried Pickles + Sweet Potato Fries with fry sauce! I LOVE that Hat Creek regularly offers fry sauce, reminds us of our good ol’ BYU days in Utah where you can find that gem everywhere. Aaron enjoys the Big Hat Burger + Oreo Shake. Stop by on Tuesday for Family Night with 1/2 price burgers.

Hi Sweetie: Thai Rolled Ice Cream & Dessert

We stopped by Hi Sweetie’s in Plano and not only was the dessert absolutely delish but it turned out to be incredibly kid-friendly!! We ordered our desserts and then our kids played with all of the toys and games in the play area! The kids tried a few of their Flower Pot Desserts. They were SO cute!! The garden cups came with mini shovels as the kids spoons, seriously adorable and tasty. I ordered the signature Light Bulb Oreo Milk Shake. Y’all, I can’t even. It was the size of my head and we drank it all up.  It’s a cute souvenir glass bulb to take home.

We also ordered Thai Rolled Ice Cream and it’s just what it sounds like: little rolls of ice cream, about the size of a roll of quarters, that are packed into a cup, then topped with all the goodies. Watching them make the rolled ice-cream was entertaining for both the kids and us! They pour flavored milk-based liquid on to an extremely cold metal circle that looks like a big pizza pan. As the base freezes it spreads out across the big circle. Once the ice cream is evenly thin they push a spatula across it and turns strips of it into rolls. I posted a few videos to my Instagram stories and MANY of y’all joked about how therapeutic it was to watch them roll the ice cream strips. Haha, we 500% agree! I loved the flavors and it was an entertaining night out with the kids. If you live in the North Dallas area, be sure to pop on over to my Instagram post to enter the giveaway for gift cards to both of these restaurants! Giveaway ends Saturday, Feb 24th! xo
