BIG News!!!

We have a 2nd orthodontic office!!!

This has probably been the most exciting, stressful, fun, crazy few weeks we’ve had in a very long time. A few months before opening Aaron’s orthodontic office in Frisco, we had completely unexpected news come our way.

Dr. McFarland, who has had one of the most incredible orthodontic practices in DFW for the past 40+ years, asked Aaron to carry on his legacy and take care of his patients and team.

Our Story

But first, let’s back up just a little: Aaron has been working at this orthodontic office in Flower Mound, TX for the past year as Dr. McFarland’s associate doctor. Flower Mound is west of where we live (about 30-35 minutes) and is in the northwest part of DFW. He’s really grown to love all of the patients and staff members at McFarland Orthodontics. Over the last few years, Aaron has been approached by many orthodontists to either buy their practices or to join as a partner. We analyzed, debated, and prayed as each opportunity came our way. These were all excellent offices and doctors with great reputations. As we took a step forward, our gut simply told us the answer was NO… Every. Single. Time.

The only thing we knew felt right for our family was to keep pushing through to build our own office from scratch in Frisco, TX. While each opportunity came and went, we pursued choosing the perfect location, designing, and building Crossley Orthodontics. It’s the only reason we moved to McKinney a couple of years ago– we wanted to become a part of the community Aaron would serve. We’re finally scheduling patients in the brand new Frisco office next month in August (only 5 months later than originally planned! 😉 😉 ). Details on the Frisco grand opening celebration soon!

When Dr. McFarland approached Aaron, this wasn’t on our radar in any way. It seemed just a little overwhelming to go from building 1 office, to building 1, while also becoming the owner/doctor for an established practice. So we prayed alot, we talked to family members, close orthodontic friends, advisors. We talked to each other A TON! And it just.felt.RIGHT. We were both excited. Excited to become a part of the amazing people there. Excited to carry on the amazing reputation that Dr. McFarland has built. We’re so excited to have this whole new community, patients, and incredible staff members to love, serve, and become part of our family!

So it’s official! Aaron couldn’t be more excited. Dr. McFarland and his sweet wife has been awesome through the whole process and will be staying on part-time for a few months to help make the transition smooth and seamless.

So where can you find Aaron, aka: Dr. Crossley?

They’ll be open 3 days/week in Flower Mound and 2 days/week in Frisco when that office opens next month. The days will alternate each week so patients in both locations will be able to be seen on any particular day of the week that works best for them. For now there are two websites and two phones numbers, but both get you scheduled with Aaron for a free orthodontic evaluation! (Different from a dental check-up: Aaron became a specialist in orthodontics by going through 3 years of ortho residency after he became a dentist: so think Invisalign, braces… beautiful smiles for kids and adults!)

We feel so excited, blessed, and anxious to see how everything goes from here. Ya’ll know, all the feelings over here! I’m so proud of Aaron for his years and years of incredibly hard work. And even more than that, for being the type of person that so many orthodontists, including someone as highly regarded as Dr. McFarland, would seek after and trust with caring for their patients, who truly become like family.

Check out this article in the local magazine sharing all the details.

(Some of the article is from Aaron’s “about the doctor” section on his website. It’s super cute and fun to read!)

“Dr. Richard McFarland has had the privilege of transforming smiles for the past 43 years. One of the greatest joys of his life has been getting to know his patients, who really feel more like family to him, and seeing how orthodontics can dramatically improve the self-esteem of children and adults alike.

McFarland Orthodontics has always been committed to staying current with the latest state-of-the-art practices, equipment, and technology available in the field of orthodontics. McFarland Orthodontics wins award year after year, including “Living Magazine: Top Docs”, “Texas Monthly” Super Dentists”, “Star Local Media: Reader’s Choice”, and “Best of Denton”, to name a few.

Dr. McFarland is passionate about helping people improve their smiles and their lives. He has carefully selected each member of the McFarland Orthodontics team in order to provide top-notch care for his patients. That’s why in 2018, Dr. Aaron Crossley was chosen as Dr. McFarland’s orthodontics associate. Dr. Crossley, like Dr. McFarland, is a man of high integrity that shares the same standards of care in orthodontics. Because of this, Dr. McFarland is proud to announce that he has chosen to hand over the reins of the practice to Dr. Crossley at the time of his retirement.

Introducing Dr. Aaron Crossley, DDS, MS:

The first thing you need to know about Dr. Crossley is being an orthodontist wasn’t his dream job. No, Dr. Crossley wanted to be Batman. So much so that he wore a Batman outfit for two straight years as a child. He’s still getting over it.

The most important thing you need to know about Dr. Crossley is that he doesn’t compromise things that matter. Things like integrity, honesty, and treating others the way they want to be treated. That’s why he’ll only recommend the same care he would give his own family.

The thing you want to know is that Dr. Crossley is super cool. Not as cool as his celebrity-ish wife, @JaneneCrossley, but he’s learned to deal with it. He’s personable, down-to-earth, and moderately funny. Not comedian funny, but serviceable.

Family is a big deal to Dr. Crossley. To prove it, he once had 4 children under the age of 5. He loves to brag about that, but they had twins, so it’s technically cheating. When Dr. Crossley isn’t at the office, he goes by a different name. Dad. You might see him frantically trying to stop his son from scoring in the wrong goal. Or, he’s re-reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar for the hundredth time. He’s part of bath time, night time, movie time, trampoline time, and “I had a bad dream” time. #family.

When he’s not Dr. Crossley or Dad, he’s just Aaron. And when he’s just Aaron, his favorite thing to do is hang out with Janene. That is, if he can pry her away from their cute, but needy offspring. He also loves to play tennis, ping-pong, and go mountain biking (without the mountains, because it’s Texas). And he’s on a lifelong quest to find the restaurant with the very best Mac and Cheese.

Dr. Crossley was born and bred in the great state of Texas. After his freshman year of college at BYU (Don’t worry, he had a big Texas flag in his dorm room window), he spent 2 years as a volunteer missionary in Alaska. It was there that he experienced something called “winter”. He even had a pet moose!

After leaving Alaska, Dr. Crossley finished his undergraduate degree at BYU in Exercise Science. He was then accepted into Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas.

As if 8 years of intense schooling wasn’t enough, Dr. Crossley signed on for another 3 years to specialize as an orthodontist. In a pool of over 300 top Dentists, he was selected as 1 of 6 residents to attend Baylor’s elite Orthodontic program. He is trained in the most cutting edge orthodontic techniques and technologies.

All this to say that Dr. Crossley is a really, really good orthodontist who will take exceptional care of you, your family, and your smile.”
