We had an absolute BLAST celebrating our birthdays this weekend! I turned 31 last Wednesday and Aaron turns 33 a week later! We’ve never been into getting each other grand, expensive gifts. Instead, what we really look forward to is experiencing a yummy dinner together or a weekend staycation. We booked a 2 night stay at the Hotel Crescent Court in Dallas on the weekend in between our birthdays. My sister and I recently started the best monthly trade-off with our kiddos. She’ll take our kids for a few days and then we’ll trade off the next month and I’ll take her kids for a few days to give them some time alone. It’s definitely a crazy, cousin-filled weekend when all 7 of the cousins are together… but it is giving them the BEST memories, while also give the parents a weekend to relax and focus on one another. I wish we would have started this sooner, haha!
We checked in to the Hotel Crescent Court just before 6pm. The valet took care of our car and the bellhop kindly snagged all our bags. We were off to our room with no wait at all. When we walked into our room, our mouths literally dropped to the floor. The crescent suite was S-T-U-N-N-I-N-G. I shared a tour of the place on my instagram stories and Aaron said to me the only thing it was missing was a grand piano (He loves to play, so of course he’d think of that). The suite was oversized with an enormous 1st level with a full-size kitchen and living room, and a master bedroom and marble bathroom on the 2nd level. This corner suite was the perfect oasis with gorgeous views over-looking the pool and downtown Dallas. After dropping off our bags, the complimentary hotel car took us to our reservation at Al Biernat’s. We split the highly recommended “Al’s Salad”: with crab and shrimp, topped with avocado and a russian garlic dressing. It was rich and heavy! Although it was good, I wouldn’t get it again. Then, we split the 12oz filet mignon that was perfectly tender, seasoned, and seared! We tried out the lobster macaroni & cheese along with the creamed corn. Both sides were amazingly delicious and we left with full bellies and a few to-go boxes! Our server surprised me with my choice of dessert and the key lime pie was perfectly tart and tasty! The hotel car picked us up and we headed back to the suite to explore the hotel grounds. It’s in a busy, beautiful part of uptown. We love the city! So much to see and do!
We always love a good Shake Shack burger and cheese fries! The good news is that it’s a 1 minute walk from the Crescent! We split a burger & fries for one dinner and it was delish!
Rise & Shine! We slept in til 8:30am. Dreamy! (haha) Aaron ordered room service and we split the smoked salmon eggs benedict. HOLY SMOKES, it was divine. I would definitely visit the hotel just to have that again. We had a slow morning. We both worked on some emails and then went out walking for the morning. It was so nice to chit chat uninterrupted!
It’s not the easiest thing to plan for weekends like this. Arranging a sitter, cancelling work obligations, putting projects on hold, missing kid’s soccer games, etc. It feels much easier to me to not schedule in these weekend dates with Aaron. BUT, in order for our marriage to rise up to new levels and for us to reset, these times committed to each other have become little treasures for us.
Next up, a day at the The Hotel Crescent Spa! I was scheduled for the Texas Spa Day! Everything is bigger in Texas so I went big and treated myself to their amazing package: 50 minute Ginger-Coconut Sugar Glow, 50 minute Signature Massage, 50 minute HydraFacial, AntiAging Manicure, Uptown Luxury Pedicure, and Lunch. WOW, ya’ll! It was all so heavenly!!! We were warmly greeted at the check-in desk and were handed our itineraries for our time in the spa. Aaron went to the wellness center to exercise and get some work done while I started with my scheduled treatments. I was taken to the women’s lounge area and shown to a locker for me to change in my robe and slippers. If you arrive early, you can enjoy the warm whirlpool to relax and unwind. I started with my sugar glow treatment and the masseuse also dry-brushed my arms and legs for an added touch to promote circulation and skin therapy. I dropped into the showers to rinse off. It was SO relaxing to take a shower without my little kiddos running in and out while asking a bajillion questions through the shower doors (haha). After I dried off, I was directed to the couple’s massage suite to enjoy a treatment together with Aaron. The masseuse asked about my areas of special interest and we got started! An hour later, we were shown to the dining area and had the yummiest lunch. My caesar salad w/ green apples & raw walnuts was amazing. I had a bite of Aaron’s club sandwich and HOLY MOLY, I’d go back just for another bite! It was so yummy! After we finished up, he left to head back to our hotel suite and I was shown to a treatment room to receive the Hydrafacial. My esthetician was 52 years old and had the most amazing skin! She was so informative and I left with glowing skin! I was shown to the nail lounge and picked a nail color for my fingers and toes. I love “Mod About You” by OPI. It’s a solid pink with a lilac undertone. The manicurist was so kind, pleasant, and a bit OCD about my nails, which every girl loves in a nail tech! I left with a perfect mani & pedi! A few hours later I met up with Aaron and we hit the pool!
The next morning we ordered room service: SUPER tasty Biscuits & Gravy and watched a movie. We snacked on all candy and goodies, enjoyed another dip in the pool and then did a late check-out at 1pm! One last movie/lunch and we headed to pick up our littles. It was an amazingly relaxing and super fun weekend! Happy birthday to us!!
Thanks Hotel Crescent Court for sponsoring this post!
