HOME TOUR: Dining Room Reveal

All Sources Listed and Linked At The End of The Post!

Here it is. The dining room has come a long way and I’m KICKING myself for not snapping better “before” photos. Y’all know I love a good Before & After. When we moved into this home 7 months ago, we replaced the FLOORS and slathered a fresh coat of PAINT throughout the place. Above, I have a screenshot from an Instagram story of this dining room with the new, bright paint and the old floors had just been ripped out. The comparison is a bit ridiculous. I know! One has gorgeous sun flowing through the windows while the other picture was in the evening. Bare with me, it’s the best I got.

FARMHOUSE TABLE

This is my FAVORITE dining table. Aaron and his dad built the table and side bench just over 3 years ago! I stained the pieces and they’ll forever be a part of our home. Having custom furniture is super cool because #1 It’s SO much cheaper and #2 It feels timeless because it has a piece of our heart. We’re in this room a lot. It’s usually the 2 girls who I’ll see drawing in their pony and unicorn coloring books or decorating with stickers. This is one of my favorite sights and gives me those sweet mama feels that I hang on to when an argument breaks out a few minutes later from their not being enough pink crayons to go around.

I snagged a few pics of Aaron with his dad building the kitchen table. I hadn’t seen a table in stores that I loved completely. So, I pulled a few tables that I liked and we created the X-base pedestal with a chunky top. We brought it home with us and I spent the next day staining the table and bench. It’s been such a great table! We’ll need to refinish the top since I had been using vinegar to clean it and didn’t know any better (WOOPS!).

WALL DECOR

I wanted to keep the room feeling simple and easy. No rugs or messy photo displays. For my wall gallery, I ordered 6 of these large gold frames along with 6 matted openings. I wanted a collage of my favorite snapshots with the kids. Two of them were my favorites from when I was always the one behind the camera. Hung these bad boys up on their own wall! The brass frames tie in to the brass accents on 2 of the dining chairs and in the chandelier.

I ordered a large print of my favorite photo of the Savior. This photo of Jesus Christ highlighting his resurrection (zoom in to see nail prints on his hand) has been dear to my heart for 10+ years. I’ll never forget the sweet peace that flooded my broken soul as I walked through a gallery filled with photos of the life Jesus lived in the Mesa Temple Visitor center. The space was quiet with spiritual music. This capture was a beacon of light + hope during the painful, lonely experience of my divorce. I saw this photo of Jesus Christ, resurrected and perfect, still carrying with him the hope-filled reminder that we’re never alone. His heart and love will heal our pain and soften the confusion from our heartache. My testimony of Him went from a small hope of a higher power to everything as I turned to Him with all I had. He’s always there, only a prayer away. I’m grateful for this beautiful piece and ordered it blown up to a 30×40 canvas.

CHAIRS

I saw velvet upholstered chairs but they were twice as expensive as what I’d want to pay for 6 chairs. I found these contemporary style side chairs with gorgeous hairpin design legs for half the price as my original chair loves. SOLD! We’ve had them and they are extremely durable and luxurious. Our home has a heavy mid-century flare and I had fun bringing these chic chairs in to make the space a bit more modern since the dining table and chandelier are a touch rustic. The 2 end parson chairs flanked the table and were the perfect amount of luxe to finish off the space. They matched the orb chairs with their plush black velvet. I especially loved the grid-tufted back. Super stylish.

CHANDELIER

Speaking of chandeliers…. DO YOU LOVE THIS ONE AS MUCH AS I DO?! Shortly after moving in 7 months ago, I scoured the internet for an awesome light fixture. I’m pretty obsessed with lighting, and if you’ve seen my house you know exactly what I’m talking about! It’s one of the easiest final touches to add to any home. I ADORE orb chandeliers and this light complemented my larger living room sputnik light very nicely. And we have an open concept that allows all of the rooms downstairs to flow into the next. So, it was important to pick light fixtures that would work well with one another. This light has a black, with a warm brass finish and a wood grain on the orb frame. I bought 12 white globe bulbs to complete the light.

      Hi Julie!

So sorry about the link not working, I’ll have to check on that. The stain color is dark walnut, but we applied it pretty lightly. I would try a sample or two since it can look so different in different spaces, or depending on the wood you use.

      Hi Devryn,

Both came from Ikea! We went to our local store and quickly found everything in the window treatment section.
