5 TIPS: Laundry Made Easier with Samsung FlexWash + FlexDry

Laundry, you guys. It’s the world’s most boring chore in the home, right? And it’s easily my least favorite job to do around the house. I thought I dreaded it when I was in college and simply had myself to sort, wash, dry, fold, and iron clothes for. But 10 years later and 5 more people to keep from running around naked, it’s even a bigger dead ringer for the last place chore award.

How do cats end a fight? …. They hiss and make up. 😉

Here are a few clever tips we do around here to make laundry feel like a little less work.

PLAN AHEAD- The worst part of doing the laundry for me is feeling like there are way too many more important things I could be doing. And all of them must be more fun, too. If I’m rushing to get the laundry done when I have something more exciting to do then I’ll hate the laundry even more. Planning ahead always takes care of this problem. When I choose a day that I know I’ll be home relaxing, especially during the kid’s nap time while I sit and watch some tv, then I don’t feel like I’m wasting time folding laundry. No other tips can make laundry more fun when you’d rather be doing something else on a busy day!
SWAP OUT UGLY LAUNDRY BASKETS FOR DECORATIVE BASKETS– Years ago, I swapped out all of our plastic bulky baskets for decorative storage baskets. So when my room is overflowing with darling baskets full of clean laundry, I honestly don’t feel stressed if I’m short on time to fold. It can sit and wait without being an eyesore in the room.
RUN 2 LOADS AT 1 TIME- Samsung literally sped up our laundry process twice as fast with their new FlexWash and FlexDry machines! These beauties have two separate and independent washing and drying sections in each machine. I’ll sort the delicates or smaller batches and wash/steam dry those on top while doing larger loads on the bottom. I’ve had 4 going at one time, crazy. Felt like super mom. If I have a bright colored shirt that may bleed into other colors, I’ll wash it by itself in the top load to save on water. When Avery has a blow-out, I’ll wash that separately on the top while the rest of the laundry is running in the huge washer below! This weekend I pulled out a lot of cloth baby toys from storage and it was SO nice to steam clean the toys in the top load. These machines can do it all! And they’re also quiet with the noise and vibration reduction built in.
CONTROL WASHES FROM YOUR PHONE- This has been an absolute lifesaver for when I’ve been out running errands and my phone ringed with a notification that my laundry cycle had ended and I was able to have the load keep spinning until I got home to switch the load over. The Smart Home App on my phone connects to my washer and dryer making it so much easier to remember I’ve completed a wash instead of re-washing or drying a load 3, 4 or even 5 times in a row because my mom brain forgot.
ACCEPT “HELP”- The older my kids get (and I’m talking 3 and 5 year olds) the more they want to help with the grown-up chores. So when they see me sorting out the laundry they always jump in to match the color of clothes together in groups. I’m a little embarrassed to admit that last week was the first time I asked my 5 year old to switch over the laundry from the washer to the dryer. And guess what?! She did it perfectly and it was so helpful! Most of the time, having the kids “help” just means it will take 3 times as long to do whatever it is. But, they absolutely love it, it teaches them useful things, and in the end will save me time as they actually become more helpful! And yea, kids begging to do chores??? Better soak that up now for the short time it lasts! 😉
