Her cake smash session was short, sweet, and so much fun. It was 3 weeks before her birthday when I honestly realized it was THREE WEEKS BEFORE HER BIRTHDAY. I love a garden, romantic boho theme but here in Texas March is full of plenty of cold and warm days. It was 1-2 weeks before her birthday when I asked my friend Emily if she could shoot the session outdoors since the weather would be warm and sunny! It all came together SO beautifully.
It’s been a cute tradition to do this 1st birthday cake smash and if you scroll allllll the way down to the bottom of this post you’ll find Savannah’s + the twin’s session. Savannah’s was beautiful as well. The twin’s session was a HOT MESS. I’ll share my favorite unedited pics at the end of this post, HAHA!
I had the most fun time making the eucalyptus string for the balloon. It was darling! I used Target to make the naked 3 layered cake. They were hesitant to veer from their typical 2 layered, fully frosted cake but I poured out tons of confidence in them and they only doubled their rate to make the simple cake. Ha! Emily added a beautiful cake topper and it was gorgeous! Avery was such a ham with tasting the cake. She immediately dipped her finger into the frosting. After that, her tiny finger scraped the frosting and brought it to her mouth. On repeat, 100 times. It was adorable. Happy 1st cake smash, baby girl. Have your cake and eat it, too.

SAVANNAH’S CAKE SMASH
12/28/2012- Seriously the cutest, she loved every minute of it. I made her a 3 layer cake, frosted with pink rosettes. Pretty easy and quick to do! She started walking at 7 months, crazy to see the differences between her and Avery who just started crawling Ha!
TWIN’S CAKE SMASH
12/21/2014- Hot mess, y’all. I never even edited the photos because it was all so terrible. LOL! I made their onesies and the festive socks + bow. I was SO excited and had high hopes for a darling capture of their 1st time eating cake to celebrate their birthday. Well, that all hit the fan. I used Tom Thumb to make their smash cakes and they looked pretty crappy. What’s worse, they used whipped frosting. WHY?! Can you imagine cleaning crisco off a baby who’s covered from head to toe in it? One word, buttercream. Not whipped. I just showed these photos to my twin’s Ethan and Charlotte, they were giggling so hard at themselves! Even though these were a disaster, the twin’s love seeing themselves look super silly as babies.
Love this video ! What size shirt is Avery wearing?
